Spiritual Gifts Part 114:  Our good conscience comes from who and what Christ is
(not who we are)

The Doctrine of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

C.  The Baptism of the Spirit is the ministry of God the Holy Spirit in placing every new believer into permanent union with the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Body the Church.

aorist passive indicative of  diasozo = to bring safely through a danger; to rescue completely from danger; to bring safe through

keep safe, keep from perishing; is also used in the passive voice, signifying "to escape," said of shipwrecked mariners.

present passive infinitive of
σώζω
save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively)

ACT 16:31 They said, " Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

EPH 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is  the gift of God;

In ACT 27:20, sozo refers to being rescued from the storm-tossed seas. It has nothing to do with our so-great salvation wrought by the blood of Christ.

The people that stayed out of the water and were safe INSIDE THE ARK were rescued.

10.  The baptism of the Spirit could not occur until there was the strategic victory of Jesus Christ in the angelic conflict.

Our Great High Priest, in His victory, was raised from the dead, and took His place at the Right Hand of the Father.

This gives us great hope when we are suffering. This hope, secured by our baptism into the risen Christ, is that anchor of the soul. HEB 6:18-20.
