Spiritual Gifts Part 329:

Meet Babylon the great, mother of harlots

The Doctrine of Spiritual Gifts

Point 4.
Developing the capacity you need to function effectively in your spiritual gift.

What is discernment?

Why do we need to have discernment?

How do I get spiritual discernment?

All discernment is performed by the Holy Spirit, using the tools of Bible doctrine already tested and found in the soul, under the exercise of one’s priesthood.

HEB 5:14
But solid food [advanced doctrine] is for the [spiritually] mature, who because of practice [learning and obeying God’s word again and again]…

HEB 5:14
…have their senses trained [have vigorously exercised their souls and human spirits by applying God’s word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit] …

HEB 5:14
…to discern good and evil [resulting in discernment both of the genuine and the counterfeit].

When you have doctrine in your soul that has been tested, you can discern evil trends in Christianity.

1. Ecumenism disguised as unity in the Body - 1CO 11:18-19; JER 6:14.

2. Morality disguised as spirituality -
Matt 23:25-28.

3. Earthly dominion disguised as the heavenly kingdom - PHI 3:17-21.

4. The social gospel replacing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, God’s Son - ROM 1:16, 2CO 11:4, GAL 1:6-9 .

ROM 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

To be ashamed of the gospel includes:
(1)Being totally embarrassed by it, or
(2) thinking one can improve upon it to make it more acceptable.

God’s Word gives no commission to the church to fix the problems of this world.

PHI 3:20
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

5. Emotion and experiences obscuring the truth of the Scriptures.

Apostasy means teachings and practices that are contrary to the Word of God yet seduce and deceive both professing Christians and true believers.

The Bible tells us that an apostasy or a major falling away will occur in the time period immediately preceding the Rapture and the Tribulation period.

The day of the Lord is that extended period of time beginning the tribulation period and extending through the second advent and the millennial age. [Pentecost, Things to Come, pp. 230-231]

The complete apostasy metastasizes after the Rapture of the church. However, the apostasy will begin its development in the last days of the church age.

The worldwide kingdom on earth that is coming next will not be ruled by the Lord Jesus Christ but will be ruled by the Beast of Daniel and Revelation.
