We are
not under law, but under grace.

The old man is who we were in Adam.

The new man is who we are in Christ.

The old man was crucified.

This way of life includes both behavior and thinking.

The old man is mentioned with regard to evil practices.

The Spirit wars against the flesh, but WE set our mind on the right things!

Notice how comprehensive this is. It includes both behaviors and attitudes -thinking.

It’s both the behavior of the old man, and his thinking. The flesh - and the mind.

We are not under law but under grace!

Present your BODIES.
Have your MIND renewed.

The Spirit both wars against the flesh and also leads us forward in the walk of a renewed life in Christ.

We co-operate with the Spirit by setting our minds on the things above, and girding our loins with truth.

The Greek word for “lay aside” in COL 3:9 is different from the one in EPH 4:22.

apekduomai =
to divest wholly oneself, or (for oneself) despoil:

to take off or strip off clothing

wholly to put off from oneself ἀπό denoting separation from what is put off):

apotithemi = to put away (literally or figuratively)

To put out of the way

figuratively, to cease doing what one is accustomed to doing - 'to stop, to cease.'

The old man is someone
you have put off… and are to put away.
