How does God go about working on our will?

We are united with Christ in His death and resurrection.

Verses 8 to 11 draw out the implications of the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

the resurrection of Jesus Christ in light of our identification with Christ.

Verses 12 to 14 make a general appeal to us in light of the facts provided in verses 2-11.

Since we really are JOINED to Him,

EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO HIM
-
HAPPENS TO US!

See what is true about THE MAN CHRIST JESUS NOW…

…then CONCLUDE that the SAME THING is TRUE about US!

We are RIGHT NOW seated together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Is Jesus still on the cross?
Then neither are you.

Did Jesus die to sin, to the law, to death?
So did you.

Is Jesus seated at the Right Hand of the Father?
So are you.

Since we shared the death of Christ,

now we shall from that point forward always share His life.

Verse 9 gives us the sure reason for this assurance that we shall keep on sharing the risen life of Christ.

Verse 8 says we believe something, and verse 9 explains why we believe something.

Believing is always based on knowing.

We believe something about ourselves because we KNOW something about Christ.

How does God go about working on our will?

He speaks the truth, the facts.

We come to know the facts.

Then we believe the facts to be true in our case.

Then we present. We obey.
