Death with Christ is the way to freedom

Water is not mentioned in Romans 6.

“baptized” == Greek verb baptizo which means “to place into and identify with something”.

aorist passive indicative.

We were placed into the death of Christ.
We were identified with Christ in His death.

Who has the ABILITY to place a person into Christ?

No human being has the ability to place a person into Christ.

Only God can do that!

We died to the reign and rule and realm of sin!

Sin has no more authority over us.

We must be careful to walk by FACTS and not by EXPERIENCES!

This verse does NOT say that sin died.

A manifestation of sin still exists in the members of our body. That is what the Bible means by “flesh”.

There is still the possibility that sin could reign in the members of our body….though no longer over us!

You are out of sin’s territory, although sin is still in your territory.

He who has died is freed from sin.

The law’s claims on a man are ended when that man dies,
ROM 7:4-6.

The old man is the race of mankind who were slaves to sin and under the law.

Baptizo means that we were placed into Christ in the likeness of His death on the cross.

Christ took on the curse of sin to free us from that. From sin, from law, and from the sting of death.

Sin, your slave was pronounced dead and then buried - the sure sign that death has occurred.

You have been released from sin, released from the law, and joined to the risen Christ!
