A bad actor with a bad attitude.

The old man is who we were in Adam.

The old man is a kind of man whose history God ended at the cross.

The old man is the race of mankind who were/are slaves to sin and under the law.

The old man is who we WERE naturally.

The things crucified:
the old man, the world, and the flesh.

Look at it, from now on, as being on the cross, in the place of death, unable to carry out what it used to carry out.

GAL 5:24
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Then YOU have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires!

The old man was crucified.

This discussion of the old man is in reference to something - our former manner of life.

ἀναστροΦή

anastrophe;
behavior, conduct

A way of life.

Conduct expressed according to certain principles. (BDAG)

We are always moving on in the Christian spiritual life.

Leaving the old ways behind as we vigorously pursue the upward call of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When it comes to this former manner of life of the old man, there are desires of the flesh AND desires of the MIND.

the Greek word behind “desires” carries with it the idea of purpose, intention, will, and plan.

When we examine WHAT IT IS about the OLD MAN that we are to PUT AWAY, …

… the package includes thoughts as well as behaviors.
