Imperishable seed

Col 2:8

1. Worldly philosophies
2. Legalism
3. Mysticism
4. Asceticism

#1. Philosophy: “the love of wisdom”.

Philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of truth, reality, knowledge, beauty, and ethics.

What is truth?

Your answer to that question determines your philosophy.

“The absolute truth, truth you can rely on, is revealed by God in the Bible.”

Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

The truth is embodied in Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

Col 2:2-3

Truth is also a big deal for the human race, though so many humans do not realize it.

1Pe 1:22-25

People are forgiven, redeemed, reconciled, and justified, through faith in the truth of the gospel.

What is the basis for people believing in Christ? It’s hearing the truth about Christ!

Joh 19:35
Joh 20:30-31

The gospel is not about creating an experience or giving your personal testimony.

The gospel is
the message of truth.

Gal 2:5
Eph 1:13
Col 1:3-6

It’s men who suppress the truth who are ungodly and unrighteous!

Rom 1:18-19

Eph 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ

The entire armor of God is forged from the truth of the word of God.

Eph 6:10-17

The wicked did not love the truth of the gospel, and believed what is false instead.
2Th 2:10-12

God’s great desire is that all men come to the knowledge of the truth.

1Ti 2:3-7

There is a movement in Christianity to disregard the truth of the Bible and replace it with so-called experiences of God.
