Good News for Sam. (Really!)

Rom 8:16-23

What is next in connection with the glory that is to be revealed to us is…

CREATION!

God saw all
that He had made, and behold, it was very good.

Here in Romans 8 , after the fall of man, we have creation subjected to futility.

It means that creation must be born again!
Just like we had to be!!

The corruption refers to death. Dying. All of creation now is in slavery to decay and death.

If you really want to understand futility, read book of Ecclesiastes.

Futility is the condition of being unable to achieve what will satisfy.

Futility is always coming up short of what you were created to be.

ματαιότης

mataiotes
"emptiness as to results,"

The state of being without use or value, emptiness, futility, purposelessness, transitory.

The good news for Sam.

Sam Krasnow is a friend of mind and one day I gave him the gospel.

Sam is Jewish.

Sam is an environmentalist.

So he thanked me and he did it in a very peculiar way.

He said “thanks for allowing me the possibility of redemption”!

Well that was all the opening I needed!

I proceeded to tell him all about the redemption that Jesus Christ accomplished for Sam on the cross.

And then the Lord made it clear to me that my job wasn’t finished!

Dear Sam:…

God is an environmentalist!

As Christians, we are built to have more compassion on God’s creation -

- in her present state of futility and corruption - than anybody else!

We join in with creation in her groaning to be made whole again.

Our very bodies of corruption are a constant reminder of that.

God’s ERA: Environmental Redemption Agency!
