Blameless before Him

Col 1:21-23

2. What does it mean to be “holy and blameless and beyond reproach” ?

It means to be completely sanctified: mature, fully grown, without spot or blemish.

‎ἄµωµος
amomos

It has two different meanings.
One is used only for our Lord Jesus Christ.

The other is used for Christians.

1. Pertaining to being without defect or blemish.

This definition applies when amomos refers to Christ: namely, the sinlessness of Christ.

Heb 9:13-14

1Pe 1:17-19

The second definition applies when amomos is used in connection with the saints.

2. Pertaining to being without fault and therefore morally blameless.

One sense pertains to how other men and women see us.

The other pertains to us being before the Lord – how He sees us (or will see us).

Phi 2:12-16

Now here the “eyes” that are on the saints are other people – in particular, unbelievers.

Mat 5:16

Rev 14:1-5

The 144,000 are seen as blameless, both before men and before the Lord.

The remaining passages speak of our being blameless before the Lord.

Eph 1:3-6
Eph 5:25-27

This next passage gives more details about being before Him.

Jud 1:24-25
