Our dear friends Gene and Nan Cunningham were with them to celebrate.

We pray for the safety of this congregation and their property during the conflict between Pakistan and India.

Act 18:1-11

Fast forward several years.

It’s late winter in the year 54 AD. Paul is now in the city of Ephesus.

Act 19:1

A number of visitors from Corinth had arrived:
the household of Chloe,
as well as Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus.

1Co 1:10-17
1Co 16:15-18

These guests brought news concerning the church at Corinth.
And the news was disturbing.

1Co 3:1-4

 Paul also received a letter from the church at Corinth which included a number of questions.

1Co 7:1-3

Paul wrote 1 Corinthians (1) to deal with the troubling things that had been reported to him,

and (2) to answer the questions that the Corinthian assembly had posed to him.

In chapters 1-6, Paul deals with the problems that were reported to him.

1Co 5:1-2

In chapters 7-16, Paul answers the questions that the church at Corinth had asked him.

1Co 7:25

He introduces his answer to each question with the phrase
“Now concerning”

2Ti 3:16-17

Reproof – followed by correction.

Colossians was a combination of instruction, persuasion, and exhortation.

2Ti 4:1-2

To reprove is to point out a fault.

To rebuke is to express strong disapproval, with the threat of unpleasant consequences for continued sinning or misbehavior.

The unpleasant consequences in view relate to church discipline.

1Ti 5:19-20

The Corinthians were engaging in several forms of sinful behavior for which they needed to receive a strong rebuke.
