Spiritual gifts part 16: The cosmic system is satan's classroom for deception.

Spiritual Gifts Part 15: Abiding in Christ, you are dead to the deadening world.

The Doctrine of Spiritual Gifts

Point 1: Setting the scene for Paul’s teaching on the Spiritual Gifts.

The world is a system of thinking that exalts self and opposes the Lord God.

“The world” is a system of thinking, based on deception, that opposes the Lord God and exalts self, yet never truly satisfies, and results in death.

The Tribulation period is the 7 year period that immediately follows the dispensation we are in now, the Church Age.

The Tribulation period is going to be the worst period ever to be living on earth.

The verb “to call” is the present active participle of kaleo meaning to call, to name, to surname, which is like what we call a nickname.

Diabolos means slanderer, accuser.

It is derived from the Greek word diaballo.

It means to slander, to accuse, to gossip, to malign.

Notice that satan’s nickname “diabolos” has to do with the sins of the tongue!

The Bible describes the tongue and its sins as a flame that first destroys the entire person and then spreads to other people.

Now, the word Satan is the Greek noun Satanas which is also a surname or title meaning accuser, deceiver or adversary.

The word for deceives is the present active participle of planao which is planon meaning to deceive, to lead others away from the truth, to cause to wander, to lead others aside.

He is the same liar and deceiver and murderer during the Tribulation as he was at the creation of man!

Any area that you do not have sound doctrine in is an area open to deception.

It means to lead or be led astray, and it is used most often concerning false teachers.

1. turning a blind eye to or encouraging sin & immorality

2. teaching sinless perfection

3. leading others to worship false Christs or to practice idolatry and false religion

1Co 15:33
"Do not be deceived: evil company corrupts good character."

“corrupt” - phtheiro = the destruction and ruining of the inner life of an individual through the communication and impartation of garbage in the soul.

2Pe 2:15
Forsaking the right way [PPOG] they have become deceived, having followed the way of Balaam, [personal gain] who loved the wages of unrighteousness.

The Goodspeed translation says that "they set their hearts on dishonest gain."

The Williams translation says that "They fall in love with the profits of wrong-doing."

The degrees of deception correspond to the degrees of apostasy.

Deception is the demonization of the soul and personality of the believer or unbeliever living in the cosmic system (“the world”).

Deception is thought transference of demon doctrine to the believer or unbeliever in the cosmic system (“the world”).

Mat 22:29
“you are deceived, not understanding the scriptures, or the power of God.”

Psa 95:10
“They keep on being deceived in their hearts, and they do not know My methods.”

Heb 3:10
They always go astray in their heart; and they did not know My ways.

Mat 24:24
“For false christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”

Rev 13:14
And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform.

Gal 6:7
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”

One of the greatest forms of deception today found in the church is the deception that a believer can reach a place where he no longer sins.

Rev 12:9
And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world;

2CO 11:3
But I am afraid, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds should be led astray [deceived] from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.
