“I will raise him up on the last day”

Joh 6:35-44

But there’s a terrible problem. He who believes in Jesus will never thirst…

…but they do not believe in Him!

They do not believe that He is the bread of life that came down out of heaven.

Joh 1:9-13

There will be people who will believe in Him. Indeed, some already had.

And not from among Jews only.
Gentiles also.

Joh 10:16

Jesus is not discouraged.

He places His confidence in the will of His Father, not the will of fleshly men.

Joh 6:37-40

It’s remarkable how Jesus paints everything in the colors
of His Father’s will.

It has a remarkable subject: the final salvation of believers!

It’s remarkable how forcefully Jesus declares that believers are eternally secure.

Now He is beholding the sovereignty of His Father.

Rom 8:28-30

It is not as if faith in Christ is unimportant. It is important.

Believe in Christ for eternal life.

Joh 6:35

Everything about us pales in the light of the glory of God’s sovereignty and grace.

Eph 2:4-9

It is remarkable for how seamlessly it weaves the matter of believing in Christ

into the tapestry of the will of God.

A major movement of this symphony
is the importance of believing in Christ
for eternal life.

The orchestra opens the floodgates of sound to declare the glory of God.

Psa 19:1

Joh 6:39-40

These two verses are parallel to one another in structure and language.

This is the will of the Him who sent me, that A, but raise it up on the last day. v.39

This is the will of My Father, that B, and I myself will raise him up on the last day. v40

A and B refer to the same people – the ones whom Jesus will raise on the last day.

The people that the Father has given Jesus

is made up of individuals who behold the Son and believe in Him!

But by no means is Jesus teaching Calvinism!

Joh 6:44

Joh 6:37

They cannot come unless the Father draws them.

The people that the Father draws so they will come to Jesus

are the people who behold Jesus and believe in Him.

The people who behold Jesus and believe in Him

are the people that the Father draws so they will come to Jesus.
