We have found the Messiah

Joh 7:25-42

The Gospel of John refers to the Messiah, the Christ,
in many places.

In Chapter 7:26-42, groups of Jews mention the Christ, the Messiah, six times.

Some understood that the Hebrew scriptures spoke of the Messiah who was to come.

Mic 5:2-4

The Messiah in the Old Testament is a BIG BIG subject.

The Messiah, the Christ, is central to the mission of the gospel of John.

Joh 20:30-31

The subject of the Christ appears in chapters 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, and 12.

Joh 4:39-42

John the Baptist emphasized that he was NOT the Messiah.

Joh 3:28

Jesus told the Samaritan woman that He was the promised Messiah.

Joh 4:25-26

During the Feast of Dedication, He told the Jews in the Temple the same thing.

Joh 10:24-25

Most of the apostles came to believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

Joh 1:40-41,49
Joh 6:68-69

John records that many ordinary Jews believed in Jesus as the Messiah.

Joh 10:40-42
Joh 11:27

The Old Testament spoke of the Messiah, the One who was yet to come.

Joh 12:31-34

The Christ,
the coming Messiah,
is a major subject
in the gospel of John.

We will see what terms “Messiah” and “Messianic” mean.

We will explore the relationship between the Old Testament & the New Testament.

The New Testament completes the unfinished business of the Old Testament.

They are the two acts of one seamless drama.

Act 3:18-26

In the first act, the Messiah is the One who will come.

In the second act, the Messiah has come - and His name is Jesus.
