Joh 11:1-16

Chapters 11 and 12 describe the final weeks of our Lord’s public ministry.

In chapter 11, Jesus performs His greatest miracle.

He raises Lazarus from the dead after the man had been dead for four days.

It brings the animosity of the chief priests and Pharisees to a full boil.

The raising of Lazarus from the dead is the seventh and final miracle in John.

The internal organs start to decompose anywhere from 24-72 hours after death.

There is no other record in the Bible of a person (other than God, Mat 27:50-54)

bringing a person back from the dead who had been dead for four days.

Let me illustrate the difference with two examples.

1Ki 17:17-24

However, the son had been dead for a very short time, perhaps less than an hour.

Luk 7:11-17

The Jews buried their dead very soon after their death, before the onset of decay.

The Gospel of John is brimming with life.

Joh 20:30-31

Joh 1:1-5

Jesus is the bread of life.
He offers the water of life.

The words that He speaks -

The reason He came:

Joh 10:10

Whoever believes in Him has eternal life.

Joh 11:25-26

Death is cruel. It is a dreadful, determined, and fearsome foe of mankind.

Eliminating death for all time is an unimaginable victory .

Joh 11:3-5

The love of Jesus comes pouring out in chapter 11.

Love for his friends, Love for His disciples, Love for His Father.

A sign is a miracle with a meaning- about the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is the Son of Man and the Son of God.
