The Lord God planted a garden

Joh 11:33-35

What does it mean to be human?

Psalm 8 describes man as God originally intended him to be.

Man fell short of the glory that God designed him to have.

Death and suffering were not part of God’s original design for mankind.

God gets more out of resurrection than He does out of creation.

Jesus is a different order of man. He is one of a kind.

Gen 1:26-31

God determined that man would be the highest order of creation.

He would be made in God’s image and likeness.

God blessed the human race with every natural blessing on earth.

There is no death here.
There is no sin here.

Rev 21:1-4

Genesis 2 gives a second account of the creation of man on the sixth day.

Gen 2:7-9

Man was formed from the dust of the ground.
He was of the earth, earthy.

The LORD God gave life to man by breathing life into his nostrils.

God made a special place on the earth for the man to live in.
It was a garden.

Gen 1:29
Gen 2:9

The trees in the Garden were not only for man’s body but also for man’s soul.

And the Lord God grew two unique trees in the midst of the garden.

The tree of the Life.

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Knowledge of evil was clearly not part of God’s original design for man.
