2Co 11:1-3

Title: The simplicity of Christ

We’ll discuss a matter of great importance today. Can a Christian be deceived? How do you defend against being deceived? How can we help others who might be?

Paul has a godly jealously for his readers (2Co 11:2). That desire distinguishes him from the false apostles.

Eph 4:11-16

Be clear: God is a jealous God — He has a desire for His people and their obedience, and deservedly so.

The term chaste virgin

(2Co 11:2) refers to a certain purity in doctrine (Ephesians 5:22-27) as the church awaits a marriage to come.

That marriage: Rev 19:1-7

The serpent Paul mentioned in 2Co 11:3 was crafty — and he’s deceiving many even now.

Make no mistake: Our enemy’s obligation is to deceive.

How do we avoid deception and aid others in doing so? Hew to the scriptures. If you can’t read it, perhaps you don’t need it.

Many in our dark world believe in another Jesus, which was of grave concern to Paul — and it should greatly concern us by extension. We’ll discuss why next week, Lord willing.
