Spiritual Gifts Part 375:
Ok so what does the sign say about the Son?

The Doctrine of Spiritual Gifts

Point 7.
Temporary spiritual gifts

Sign gifts

c. The third temporary gift is that of miracles, Heb 2:4

The gift of miracles was the unique ability to accomplish supernatural works of power in order to draw attention to the message.

Whenever God gives a sign, look for the message.

What does the manifestation of this temporary gift say about our Lord Jesus Christ?

1. There are no miracles.

2. Miracles are performed directly by God

3. Miracles are performed by God using a human intermediary.

Man is impressed with miracles.

However, the easier thing for God to do is to perform a miracle.

What glorifies God more is to have a believer line up with His will and enjoy the spiritual freedom which exists in Christ.

The greatest demonstration of God's power in mankind today is the fulfillment of His divine plan in the life of any believer, reproducing the virtues of Christ.

Our good friends, hupomone and makrothumia.

Miracles can be "lying wonders" according to 2Th 2:9.

MAT 24:24
“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”

Now, the word translated miracles in 1Co 12:10,28,29 is from the Greek word dunamis =
miraculous POWER!

dunamis is used of works of a supernatural origin and character which could not be produced by natural agents and means.

Miracles were also called semeion or signs.

ACT 2:22
“Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—”

2Co 12:12
The signs of a true apostle were performed among you with all perseverance, by signs and wonders and miracles.

JOH 10:41
And many came to Him and were saying, “While John performed no sign, yet everything John said about this man was true.”

LUK 7:28
“I say to you, among those born of women, there is no one greater than John; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

1. During the period covered by Moses and Joshua (1441-1370 BC).

2. Elijah and Elisha,
(870 BC-785 BC).

3. Christ and the apostles, (28 AD-96 AD).

Mat 17:4
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah”.
