The Activity of the Spirit in the Lives of Church Age Believers, Part 24
Pastor-Teacher
John Farley Thursday, May 30, 2013 The Activity of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Church Age believers, part 24.Whenever you come across a passage in the New Testament that says something about you and something about Christ, focus on the part about Christ. If you read 1 John it is unmistakable that declaring our sins, admitting that we commit sins, is tied into powerful meaning of Christ’s work on the cross. Tied into the blood of Jesus cleansing us from all sin. Tied into Jesus at the right hand of the Father as the propitiation, the satisfaction for our sins, and His active advocacy there on our behalf. Tied into the faithfulness and righteousness of God the Father who forgives sins and cleanses from all unrighteousness on the basis of the blood of Jesus and Jesus as the propitiation for the sins of the world. This is all fundamental, this is justification truth, this is basic truth that the new believer in Christ needs to learn about and master and make part of who he or she is. God has given us all this Christ – His blood, His propitiation, the Advocate at God’s right hand – for our COMPLETE RESCUE FROM SIN so we can live this new life in union with the resurrected Christ.
The work that addresses our sinning after salvation is done WITH THE SPIRIT and BY THE SPIRIT and IN THE SPIRIT!!! The Holy Spirit is now conducting a relentless campaign to render the flesh ineffective. What the blood of Christ has accomplished
The blood of Christ has purchased the church of God. This is Redemption, a finished work of Christ on the cross.
God displayed Christ Jesus publicly as a propitiation in His blood. God the Father is completely satisfied with us on the basis of the blood of Christ. This means because we are believers we are already declared righteous, meaning totally acceptable forever in God’s sight.
We have already been justified by the blood of Christ. And we have already been completely reconciled to God through the death of His Son.
We already have the redemption through the blood of Christ, and that means that we already have the forgiveness of our trespasses.
Christ has already made peace through the blood of His cross. 1. These passages all speak of the blood of Christ in terms of things that have ALREADY HAPPENED in the past. 2. These passages all speak of the complete and finished work of Christ on the cross. 3. These passages speak of the forgiveness of sins as something that the blood of Christ has already accomplished for the believer.
Act 10:43
Act 13:38-39
Act 13:39
Act 26:18 This complete forgiveness of sins is the universal testimony of the New Testament epistles directed toward church age believers.
Eph 4:32
Col 2:13
1Jo 2:12
Knowing the truth about what the blood of Christ HAS ACCOMPLISHED for us, the finished work, the blood, serves to cleanse our conscience.
