The Activity of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Church Age believers, part 26.

If you read 1 John it is unmistakable that declaring our sins, admitting that we commit sins, is tied into powerful meaning of Christ’s work on the cross.

What the blood of Christ has accomplished

The blood of Christ has purchased the church of God. This is Redemption, a finished work of Christ on the cross.
Act 20:28

God displayed Christ Jesus publicly as a propitiation in His blood. God the Father is completely satisfied with us on the basis of the blood of Christ.
Rom 3:21-25

This means because we are believers we are already declared righteous, meaning totally acceptable forever in God’s sight.

We have already been justified by the blood of Christ. And we have already been completely reconciled to God through the death of His Son.
Rom 5:8-11

We already have the redemption through the blood of Christ, and that means that we already have the forgiveness of our trespasses.
Eph 1:7

Christ has already made peace through the blood of His cross.
Col 1:20

1. These passages all speak of the blood of Christ in terms of things that have ALREADY HAPPENED in the past.

2. These passages all speak of the complete and finished work of Christ on the cross.

3. These passages speak of the forgiveness of sins as something that the blood of Christ has already accomplished for the believer.

Act 10:43
"Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."

Act 13:38-39
"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

Act 13:39
"and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

Act 26:18
‘to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’

This complete forgiveness of sins is the universal testimony of the New Testament epistles directed toward church age believers.

Eph 4:32
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Col 2:13
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions.

1Jo 2:12
I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake.

Heb 9:14
how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Knowing the truth about what the blood of Christ HAS ACCOMPLISHED for us, the finished work, the blood, serves to cleanse our conscience.
Heb 9:11-14

Heb 9:26
but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

The key to understanding this next passage (Heb 10) is to realize that the blood of the animal sacrifices from the Old Testament is contrasted in every particular with the blood of Christ.

But Christ’s blood can and did!

But the blood of Christ takes away the sins, and therefore there is no reminder of sins here.

Heb 10:10
By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Heb 10:12
but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD,

Heb 10:14
For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

Heb 16b-17
He [the Holy Spirit!] then says,
"AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."

Heb 10:18

Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.

We have confidence to enter THE HOLY PLACE because we have been made holy, perfectly sanctified, by the blood of Jesus!!

Heaven is now open to you 24 hours a day and 7 days a week because of the wondrous blood of Jesus Christ.

Any teaching that says you have to confess your sins before you are forgiven, confess your sins before you are restored to fellowship with God, confess your sins before the Holy Spirit can work in your life…

That teaching is legalism that serves to prevent believers from actually in their lives enjoying the blessings purchased by the blood of Christ.
