Sin: the rebellion against God.

Sin (singular) = the authority, power and principle behind man’s rebellion against God.

Sin as a master.
Sin as an enemy.

God’s definition of sin is not transgression of law, but rather the refusal to be controlled:

self-will, which by its nature is opposed to God’s will.

anomía =
revolt against God

Sin is the rebellion against God.

It is often personified as a master.

Law incites rebellion. Grace overwhelms it.

Sins = any thoughts, words, or deeds that are against the will of God.

Transgressions = willful violations of God’s revealed law. Often used as a synonym for sins.

Sin totally controls and dominates the unbeliever and the unbelieving world.

“Walking” refers to one’s way of life, one’s lifestyle.

The course of this world is corruption, deception, blindness, destruction, judgment, and death.

IN THE LUSTS OF OUR FLESH

INDULGING THE DESIRES OF THE FLESH

INDULGING THE DESIRES OF THE MIND

Ecc 8:11
the hearts of the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil.

What is the reign of sin like for those who are in Adam?

COMPLETE DOMINATION

The lives of the lost are completely directed by sin.

The lives of the lost are totally immersed in sin.

The lives of the lost are captured by sin.

As complete and total as the reign of sin dominates the lives of the unbeliever…..

The reign of grace goes WAY BEYOND that extent in the lives of the saints!!!

The force of grace in our lives is much stronger than the force of sin and death ever has been in the life of any unbeliever.

Sin exhausts itself at the death of the person, but grace is endlessly life giving, all the way through eternity.
