BDAG Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and other Early Christian Literature.

πιστέω

pisteuo
to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing),

pisteuo
i.e. credit; by implication, to entrust (especially one's spiritual well-being to Christ).

To consider something to be true and therefore worthy of one’s trust; believe.

Joh 11:25-27
Rom 10:8-13

To entrust oneself to an entity in complete confidence, believe (in), trust,…

with the implication of total commitment [as in reliance] to the one who is trusted.

In the NT God and Christ are objects of this type of faith that relies on their power and nearness to help,

in addition to being convinced that their revelations or disclosures are true.

Pro 3:5-6

Know it
Count on it
Present yourselves

Rom 6:8-11

Verse 8 says we believe something, and verse 9 explains why we believe something.

Believing is always based on knowing.
