Practical Christianity:

What is wisdom?

Jam 1:5

The book of the Proverbs is a “how-to” book. That makes it a book of wisdom.

What is wisdom?

chokmah : mastery of the art of living in accordance with God’s expectations.

The knowledge and ability to make the right choices at the opportune time.

Pro 8:22-36

Pro 8:30 “Then I was beside Him, as a master workman;
And I was daily His delight,”

Wisdom is master craftsmanship.

Wisdom is on the scene whenever there are good works to be accomplished.

Eph 2:10

Wisdom is mastery of the best ways of doing things to achieve the desired result.

Wisdom is the right use of one’s knowledge to its best ends.

Wisdom is knowing the right thing to do, and then doing it.

How to make the right choices and take the right actions in our daily lives.

Pro 1:1-7

Wisdom begins with instruction.

Wisdom resides in understanding.

Wisdom leads to wise behavior.

Wisdom is instruction in righteousness, as well as justice and equity.

2Ti 3:16-17

There are three kinds of people introduced here in Proverbs 1.

1. The naïve youth
2. The wise man of understanding
 and 3. the fool

Wisdom is a life-long commitment to learning, understanding, and wise behavior.

The beginning of wisdom, the root of wisdom, is fear of the Lord.

The source of all real wisdom, the good kind, is God.

Pro 2:1-6
