Practical Christianity:

Honey, and your honey, part 2.

Wisdom is mastery of the art of living in accordance with God’s expectations.

The opposite of wisdom is foolishness or folly.

There is the wisdom of God, but there is also the wisdom of the world.

Wisdom from above or Godly wisdom.

Wisdom from below or demonic wisdom.
(Jam 3:13-18)

We are called by God to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil. (Rom 16:19-20)

Our next practical subject in Proverbs
is the subject of sex and marriage.

1. The naïve youth
2. The wise man of understanding

and 3. the fool

Rom 5:6-11

Proverbs 5 -7, 9 and 31 present wisdom in the area of sex and marriage.

Pro 5:1-6

God places responsibility for wise sexual behavior squarely on the shoulders of the man.

The book of Proverbs is addressed principally to young men.

Tit 2:3-5

Chapter 31 of the book of Proverbs describes the virtuous wife.

Pro 31:30
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

Warnings about the prostitute and adulteress are a major theme in chapters 5, 6, 7, and 9.

the Hebrew word for “adulteress” here means “foreign” or “alien” or “strange”.

The lips here do not refer to kisses, but rather to her enticing words she speaks.

This was the sweetest substance known to ancient Israel.

Well-pressed olive oil was the smoothest substance known to the ancient Hebrews.

We have the deception of the wisdom from below.

Son 4:11
