What exactly is prayer?
Jer 33:3 The Lord said: 'Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'
Where in the bible are we commanded to pray?
1Ch 16:11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.
Phi 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Col 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;
An important part of prayer is to give thanks to God for our many blessings including the ones that may not feel good but bring us closer to him. 1Th 5:16-18
Who is commanded to pray?
All believers are commanded to pray

When the Bible talks about hope it is using the Greek word Elpis which means to anticipate with confident expectation.
