Practical Christianity:

Practical Sanctification

The blood of Christ has cleansed us from our sins.

God has declared us to be righteous in His eyes forever.

God the Father condemned sin in the flesh at the cross of Jesus Christ.

Sin shall not be master over us, because we are not under law, but under grace.

When we get back in the game of our life, we will very soon be confronted once again with our sinfulness.

A flare-up of things that challenge the very spiritual ground into which I was just more deeply planted.

Once again we are confronted not only with the gap between our performance and God’s righteous standard….

But also with the urgency of a new outbreak of our sinfulness and weakness.

I know that my Father is desirous that I act more and more in keeping with His plans for that son that He has made me to be.

We have another Ephesians 4 moment.

Eph 4:1-3

It’s time to walk again.

How do we do that?

Practical sanctification

1Co 1:30-31

Righteousness and redemption being the mountain top blessings.

And wisdom and sanctification , blessings for the kitchen and the bedroom and wherever else we walk.

We are not to worry about our practical sanctification – but we do participate in it!

Col 3:1-21

Notice where we begin: with Christ, seated at the right hand of the Father.

We are to set our mind on Him, on the things above, first and foremost.

This is the heavenly. This is Romans 8 .

But then notice the turn in verse 5.

Back to our earthly body.

Our walk pivots on considering something to be true about us …

Something that harkens back to Christ, and the cross, and what happened to us there.

Set your mind on Christ.
Then consider what He brings to your daily life.
