His grace toward me did not prove vain.John Farley
Pastor-Teacher Sunday, May 15, 2016 Practical Christianity: Col 3:1-11 from verses 5 to 9 we have the negative side of practical Christianity. This means a very active spiritual life. We do these things. We do these things. Eph 2:10 It is His workmanship, - and our walk. (Eph 2:10) God is at work in me - as I work out my salvation. (Phi 2:12-13) Gal 5:16-17 I can walk by means of the Spirit, - but only because the Spirit wars against the flesh. (Galatians 5:16-17) The fruit of the Spirit is love, - and so we are to serve one another through love. We are to labor and strive, yet it is according to His power which works mightily in us. (Col 1:29) Practical sanctification is a partnership. The Holy Spirit is at work and we are called to participate in His work. 2Co 13:14 It’s the grace of God - and our response to the grace of God. Our participation in grace. koinonia = Fellowship. Partnership. Joint participation in a common endeavor. an association involving close mutual relations and involvement. God enables us to act. And yet even there, as we act, God is still at work – right in the activity itself.
