The Light in John’s gospel is life: God’s life, eternal life.
Darkness did not overwhelm the Light.
Later, Jesus announces that He is the Light of the world.
In the day, Jesus works the works of His Father.
There are 12 hours in the day -the time He had to complete His mission on earth.
Each person must walk while they still have the Light of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In every human life on earth, there are twelve hours of day.
When that last hour ends, darkness falls on that life, and it is night.
At stake was the establishment of the Messianic kingdom.
At stake was their individual salvation (John 12:35-36, 44-46).
The last hour ended at John 19:30. At stake was the salvation of the world.
The last hour
Night
Darkness
It is finished
At stake is his eternal salvation.
HEB 9:27
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment
At stake? Our spiritual growth, and rewards at the judgment seat of Christ.
At stake is God’s wisdom being made known to the heavenly rulers and authorities.
And then no longer will there be any night.
