We have such a great High Priest!!!

pastor @ lbible.org

The message, outline and argument of the book of Hebrews.

Only a deep knowledge of who Christ is and what He does for us will bring us to experience that abundant life .

The one protection from all the dangers is the knowledge of Jesus in His heavenly high priesthood.

A priest:

1. Offers sacrifices to God on behalf of the people.
2. Represents the people before God.

The high priesthood of Jesus in the book of Hebrews includes (1) His one perfect sacrifice for sins,

(2) His intercession at the Right Hand of the Father on our behalf,

and (3) the new and living way He opens for us to have bold access to the throne of God.

He is our merciful and faithful high priest. Since He was tempted and suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Jesus can sympathize with us and supply the help we need in the time of trial, HEB 2:17-18.

We have a great high priest, Jesus the Son of God, who can sympathize with our weaknesses since He has been tempted in all things as we are. (HEB 4:14-16)

Draw near to Him! You will always receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Mercy is God’s compassion and forgiveness concerning anything painful or shameful about our past.

Grace is undeserved blessing freely given to us by God to meet our needs now and in the future.

Jesus holds His priesthood permanently. He always lives to make intercession for us. (HEB 7:23-25)

We have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens (HEB 7:26-28)

Throughout the Bible, priesthood and sacrifice go together.

These animal sacrifices were powerless to meet the real need of the people for a conscience cleansed of guilt.

Our Lord Jesus Christ exercises His priesthood on the basis of the real, efficacious, perfect sacrifice of Himself, HEB 9:24-26.

The high priesthood of Jesus in the book of Hebrews includes (1) His one perfect sacrifice for sins,

(2) His intercession at the Right Hand of the Father on our behalf,

and (3) the new and living way He opens for us to have bold access to the throne of God.

Sacrifice. Intercession.
Access to God.
