Identity politics

We are splitting up into tribes based on inbred characteristics like race and gender.

Groups of people having a particular racial, ethnic, gender, religious or cultural identity…

…promote their own specific interests and grievances …

…without regard to the interests or concerns of any other group.

All human beings are 99.9% identical in our genetic makeup.
(NHGRI)

But we focus on the 0.1%!

The fierce identity conflicts of today have their origin thousands of years ago.

Identity politics has a long, nasty, violent history…

And it’s all explained in the Bible.

It’s the story of the creation of man, the fall, and redemption.

The human race was completely united…one flesh.

GEN 1:26-27
GEN 2:20-25

And that’s how God wanted it to remain.

But it didn’t last long. Our first ancestors decided to split off from God.

And identity politics is a byproduct of the fall of man.

Because of the sinfulness of the fallen human race, God introduced certain divisions.

He did it to restrain evil.

Race/ethnicity

Gender

Race is not the same thing as racial hatred.

Variety does not imply divisiveness.

At heart, ethnic and racial strife are conflicts between brother and brother.

The sexes have been at each other’s throats since the day of the Fall.

Because once the splitting up starts, there is no end to it.

It’s really all about selfishness.

Identity politics lives in the lusts of the flesh.

COL 3:5-8

God made plans to reconcile the human race. To Himself, and then to one another.

There is NONE righteous, not even one.

God gave the human race salvation as a free gift, by grace through faith.

When His Son came to earth, He exposed the sickness of identity politics.

“Who is
my neighbor?”

He addressed the gender conflict in the scourge of divorce.

MAT 19:3-8

God is totally opposed to any hostility between husband and wife: between men and women.

He wants us to treat everyone as our neighbor - regardless of ethnicity.

So that everyone could share in the end of racial and ethnic and gender wars.

JOH 17:20-26

His death on the cross…
reversed the curse!!

ROM 8:3-4

Christ is the end of identity politics for all who believe - and live in their new identity.
