In chapter 7, the scene shifts from Galilee to Jerusalem.
The Galilean ministry of Jesus continued after the events of chapter 6.
John didn’t record it. It can be found in MAT 14:34 - 18:35.
Passover was a spring feast.
14th day of Nisan (the 1st month of the Hebrew year); our March-April
Booths was a fall feast.
the 15th -22nd days of Tishri (the 7th month of the Hebrew year); our Sept -Oct
6 Hebrew (lunar) months between the Passover and the Feast of Booths.
This feast of Tabernacles was the most joyous feast of the year for the Jews.
Feast of Booths (Sukkot): people lived in makeshift booths of branches and leaves.
This feast looked back to their wandering in the wilderness living in temporary huts.
The feast of Booths coincided with the fall harvest - the end of the agricultural year.
There was a special convocation on the eighth day, the last day of the feast.
The Feast of Booths also looked forward to the joys of the Messianic kingdom.
Sukkot for the year 2021 starts on the evening of Monday, September 20th
ending the 7 day festival on sundown Monday, September 27th
Judea had become a dangerous place for Jesus to go.
He didn’t set His own itinerary. That was His Father’s business.

It had already started earlier, recall, this animus they had for Him.
He left because it was not yet His time to engage them publicly.
This time, Jesus publicly repudiated them.
