Class Outline:
This gospel is a story of unbelief and belief.
The powerful in Israel rejected Him.
But His disciples came to believe that He was the Son of God.
Many came to believe in Christ as a result of this miracle.
His enemies resolved to have Him put to death.
Chapters 18 and 19 depict the hour of darkness rising out of the pit of unbelief.

Chapter 20 provides the affirmation of belief: the resurrection of Christ.
John portrays Jesus as being in control of all circumstances.
John’s purpose:
that people may believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
Jesus was in complete control of the events of His arrest, trial, and crucifixion.
