Class Outline:
In response to his preaching, people came to John baptized for the remission of sin
John’s aim was to compel listeners to change their minds + behavior in preparation of the coming Messiah
Remember MAR 1:6 ? John’s clothing and appearance are no accident — it’s a callback a prophet of old
John’s behavior helped him stand out to listeners, but some rejected him all the same
Baptism has a broader definition than you might think — people were baptized into Moses for example
Jesus Christ provided a greater baptism both then and now — he baptizes us and all believers with the Holy Spirit
We are baptized directly into the body of Christ, which is something John could never do
Enjoy the benefits of being permanently identified with Christ — and the Spirit we have because of Him
