Title: All for One, One for all

2CO 5:13-17

Remember from last week: Paul just mentioned people who gloried in appearance, but not in heart

(2CO 5:12). No doubt some of that group had critics of him.

Critics called Paul insane

(2CO 5:13), but in reality, he was zealous + devoted to the truth.

Another example: ACT 26:19-26

Critics said the same of Jesus Christ, whom Paul preached:

MAR 3:20-30

Paul wasn’t insane. He was motivated by the love of Christ. That same love, he wrote, controlled him

(2CO 5:14).

Paul and the apostles had come to appreciate Christ’s death and how that death extends to us all. All includes all people. When Christ died, we all died.

Consider the irony of Caiaphas the high priest, and how he treated our High Priest: JOH 11:47-53

Remember that Christ died for His friends: JOH 15:11-21

When Christ died, we all died. Jesus Christ died in service to us:

MAR 10:35-45

When Christ died, we all died. Jesus Christ died in service to us:

ROM 5:3-11

When Christ died, we all died. Jesus Christ died in service to us:

ROM 8:31-39

When Christ died, we all died. Jesus Christ died in service to us:

1PE 3:14-18

When Christ died, we all in a sense died. Paul’s point in

2CO 5:15 in that we should live for Him who died and rose again.

Christ, the Preeminent One, rose from the dead, never to return.

HEB 7:20-28;

REV 1:9-18

We should serve Him, which means following His example: JOH 12:20-26

We now having new life in Christ can live for Him:

COL 3:5-11

We now having new life in Christ can live for Him:

GAL 2:19-21

We now having new life in Christ can live for Him:

2CO 5:17-21

We now having new life in Christ can live for Him:

1PE 2:21-25

Remember what we called the day of judgment last week? Since believers live in service to Him, no need to fear:

1JO 4:9-17

Jesus Christ, our greatest Friend, provided us the greatest service on the cross. He died for the sins of the world, the just for the unjust.

We, then, must live for Him knowing that He died for us and rose again. Our lives are no longer our own — Christ is our life, and we must live in service to Him.
