Title: Who belongs to Christ?

What is worldly knowledge, and what is the knowledge of God?

Who belongs to Christ?

Exalt only One, and none others

 

Worldly knowledge is by definition against God. The unbelieving can’t accept what we do about God, and what their direct opposition is why Paul mentions what does in

2CO 10:5.

 

The worldly speculations and things raised up against the knowledge of God are of importance to Paul, and they should be important to us because they are distinct from what we adhere to.

 

The world promotes and rewards a certain wisdom, and those in the world seek after that. But Jesus Christ, by contrast is the wisdom of God: 1CO 1:18-31

 

To be against the Lord Jesus Christ is to be against God’s knowledge: COL 2:1-8

 

You and I as believers belong to Christ, which is why we can reject the carnal knowledge of world. That makes us distinct from the world, which feasts on that knowledge.

 

Who belongs to Christ? The unbelieving world does not have the Spirit of Christ, but every believer does:

ROM 8:5-9

 

Who belongs to Christ? Those who have the mind of Christ. The unbelieving world does not: 1CO 2:12-16

 

Who are the disobedient that Paul writes he and others were ready to punish (2CO 10:6)? He’s referring to unbelievers in the church at Corinth, and perhaps among readers.

 

Those who were disobedient exalted the wrong knowledge, and the followed after that which appeals to the world.

 

We believers are obedient not to the whims of this world, or the so-called wisdom of the world but instead only to Him. We as believers are to exalt only our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Jesus Christ would be lifted up in a short-term sense, and a much longer-term sense:

JOH 12:27-36

 

The Lord is the only one to be raised up or exalted:

ISA 2:5-11, ISA 52:13-15

 

God saw fit to exalt His Son Jesus Christ in a way unique from all others, and we believers recognize that:

PHI 2:5-11, HEB 1:5-9

 

The world will tell you — tacitly or explicitly — all types of so-called knowledge that is against God. Ignore it, and instead be obedient to the true knowledge we have via His Son Christ.

 

The disobedient have no qualms about devaluing the Lord Jesus. Pray earnestly that they believe true gospel of Jesus Christ and pursue a knowledge much different than the one they know.
