The word "deacons" is the masculine accusative plural of diakonos which means a waiter, or a minister.
It also means to render service or administration.

The word “dignity” is the adjective semnous which means worthy of respect, honorable, noble in character, serious and worthy.

“not double-tongued” is the Greek phrase me dilogous which means not speaking in two directions.
Dilogos means saying one thing with one person, another with another (with intent to deceive) .

The higher you go in any form of leadership, the more you must be free from any form of slavery.

too much alcohol destroys the ability to concentrate, destroys self-discipline,
destroys good health and vigor, all of which is necessary to fulfill leadership responsibility.

Deacons must be worthy of respect, not given to double-talk (hypocrisy and lack of integrity), not a slave to alcohol and not having an eager desire for dishonest profit.

The word "mystery" is the accusative singular noun musterion which refers to the mystery doctrine of the Church-age.

The word ‘clear’ is the adjective kathara which means a pure conscience, one that is clean from that which corrupts, one that is free from prejudice and also free from guilt.

PRO 30:5
Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.

The words of the Lord are pure words;
As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.

The wisdom that is from above is first pure.

Tested is the pres-pass-imp of the verb dokimazo which means to be tested through trial and pressure. It means to regard something as genuine or worthy on the basis of testing.

The word ‘dignified’ is the noun semnas which means worthy of respect, honorable.

The Greek suggests the meaning of “one-woman kind of men”.

The saints came out of a pagan culture that condoned all sorts of vile sexual behavior: temple prostitution, multiple sex partners, homosexual acts, and even polygamy.

None of the qualifications here require 100% perfection 100% of the time.
If that were so, no church in America would ever get a deacon!

There is not a man on this planet who is impeccable across the board for these 12 criteria.
