The Activity of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Church Age believers, part 27.

What the blood of Christ has accomplished

The blood of Christ has purchased the church of God. This is Redemption, a finished work of Christ on the cross.
ACT 20:28

God displayed Christ Jesus publicly as a propitiation in His blood. God the Father is completely satisfied with us on the basis of the blood of Christ.
ROM 3:21-25

This means because we are believers we are already declared righteous, meaning totally acceptable forever in God’s sight.

We have already been justified by the blood of Christ. And we have already been completely reconciled to God through the death of His Son.
ROM 5:8-11

We already have the redemption through the blood of Christ, and that means that we already have the forgiveness of our trespasses.
EPH 1:7

Christ has already made peace through the blood of His cross.
COL 1:20

1. These passages all speak of the blood of Christ in terms of things that have ALREADY HAPPENED in the past.

2. These passages all speak of the complete and finished work of Christ on the cross.

3. These passages speak of the forgiveness of sins as something that the blood of Christ has already accomplished for the believer.

This complete forgiveness of sins is the universal testimony of the New Testament epistles directed toward church age believers.

COL 2:13
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions.

HEB 9:26
but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

HEB 10:14

For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

Heb 16-17
He [the Holy Spirit!] then says,
"AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."

HEB 10:18

Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.

We have confidence to enter THE HOLY PLACE because we have been made holy, perfectly sanctified, by the blood of Jesus!!

Heaven is now open to you 24 hours a day and 7 days a week because of the wondrous blood of Jesus Christ.

Any teaching that says you have to confess your sins before you are forgiven, confess your sins before you are restored to fellowship with God, confess your sins before the Holy Spirit can work in your life…

That teaching is legalism that serves to prevent believers from actually in their lives enjoying the blessings purchased by the blood of Christ.

Law vs. Grace
Law sets this up:

Obey ► Bless
Disobey ► Curse

Law vs. Grace
Grace does this:

Bless and Enable ►
now Walk as My son or daughter

Jesus Christ loves us and has released us from our sins by His blood. REV 1:5

So we need to understand the reference to the blood of Jesus in 1JO 1:7 in light of the clear, powerful testimony of the rest of the New Testament epistles concerning the blood of Christ.

We have the blood of Christ for our sins, and we deal with our guilt and shame and fear by having our conscience cleansed by the blood of Christ.

We have the cross of Christ, and suffering (1PE 4:1-2), the word of God and the Holy Spirit to deal with our flesh, our self-interested sinful self.

We have the resurrected and glorified Christ, and the word of God, and the Holy Spirit, to enable us to live this new life.
