We have such a great High Priest!!! Part 2.

The message, outline and argument of the book of Hebrews.

The one protection from all the dangers is the knowledge of Jesus in His heavenly high priesthood.

We have a great high priest, Jesus the Son of God, who can sympathize with our weaknesses since He has been tempted in all things as we are. (HEB 4:14-16)

Our Lord Jesus Christ exercises His priesthood on the basis of the real, efficacious, perfect sacrifice of Himself, HEB 9:24-26.

The high priesthood of Jesus in the book of Hebrews includes (1) His one perfect sacrifice for sins,

(2) His intercession at the Right Hand of the Father on our behalf,

and (3) the new and living way He opens for us to have bold access to the throne of God.

Sacrifice. Intercession.
Access to God.

Draw near to Him! You will always receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Mercy is God’s compassion and forgiveness concerning anything painful or shameful about our past.

Grace is undeserved blessing freely given to us by God to meet our needs now and in the future.

There is not an infirmity, a need, a weakness, a temptation, a sorrow, an ache, an anxiety, but it draws out sympathy and help from Christ.

Distressed about your country

In physical pain

Struggling with being single

Worried about losing your home

Something about your body or physical appearance bothers you

Depression

The sting of rejection

A loved one under attack

The difficulty of doing God’s will

Mocked, abused, insulted

Death of a loved one

Your own impending death

Loneliness

Feel forsaken by God

Stripped of your dignity

You are in real trouble tonight, and you think there is no one around to help you.

The entire list comes from examining the life of Jesus, and seeing what He experienced during His time on planet earth.

We have such a great High Priest in God’s Son!
 

He is the perfect sacrifice for all our sins.

He intercedes for us day and night at God’s right hand.

He provides us complete access to God.

Jesus can sympathize with us and supply the help we need in the time of trial.

We have a great high priest, Jesus the Son of God, who can sympathize with our weaknesses since He has been tempted in all things as we are.

Draw near to Him! You will always receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Mercy - because there is something in your past that haunts you.

Grace - because there may be something today or tomorrow that you can’t face without His help.
 

There are probably many of us who are distressed about the condition of our country these days.

Some of us are in physical pain.

Jesus learned things from going through physical pain that make Him a merciful High Priest now for you when you are in pain.

Some in our Royal Family have expressed to me how difficult it is to be single.

Some among us are worried about losing your home.

Perhaps there is something about your body or physical appearance that is a source of anxiety, or of shame.

Some of us are struggling with depression or anxiety.
