Sometimes, God’s Word is so piercing

How does God go about working on our will?

He speaks the truth, the facts.

We come to know the facts.

Then we believe the facts to be true in our case.

Then we present. We obey.

The willing and the doing have to be set up by the knowing and believing.

Starting with an appeal to the will …

… before preparing the soil of the soul with the knowing and believing …

… is a recipe for failure.

What we believe is anchored in what we know.

The most sure knowing possible is anchored in the facts that God reveals to us.

What we choose and what we do is anchored in what we believe.

Because we know something about Christ, we believe something about us.

Always begin with the knowledge, the facts about Christ.

Start with Christ!

Never go right to ourselves without first stopping to grasp the facts about Christ.

I see myself in Christ, alive from the dead ones, and that means I, like Him, am alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Start with Christ -
and proceed to us.

Can you lift 2,000 pounds??

First, seek out the facts about what God has done about your 2,000 pound problem.

The place to look is always the person of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Once I see this marvelous thing worked out in Christ,

it’s a slam dunk to see it working out for me - because I am in Him.

If I start by looking at myself only, the whole thing looks impossible.

But starting with Him, and accounting from Him to us, it THEN appears inevitable!

OK, ready for the challenge?

This next message is simple - but oh, so challenging.

He has a passage like
EPH 4:30-32
in mind.

EPH 4:22-24 is describing the same thing that ROM 6:12-13 describes.

The really piercing part is the word “all”.

Can any of us honestly say that we have let ALL bitterness be put away from us?

There are these times in the journey where the Lord makes it clear to us…

… that it is time for the Spirit to deal decisively with something in our hearts.
