The testing of your faith produces endurance.
“perseverance” in Romans 5:4 and 5 is the same Greek word as “endurance” in JAM 1:3-4 : hupomone.
hopomone means courageous endurance; a patient, steadfast waiting, with hope.
It means to remain under pressure; to put up with adverse circumstances for a long time.
It means to stay in a situation of suffering, affliction, or persecution.
The testing of our faith is not to determine whether or not a person has faith;
The testing is intended to purify and strengthen the faith that God has given us.
imperative mood. Third person singular!
“Let something have something!”
Let this work proceed unhindered.
How do we NOT let endurance complete its work?
By not remaining in the place the Lord has called you to be.
By not humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God.
And might I add, becoming pure in heart. Because that’s how it happens.
Pure means 100% something.
That and no other.
No mixture. Complete.
The LORD IS full of compassion,
And our LORD IS merciful!
Keep your eyes and your hope fixed on the OUTCOME of the LORD’s dealings.
