Practical Christianity:

We participate in the grace of God.

COL 3:1-5

We can only do this “considering” because of what Christ did for us when He died on the cross. (Romans 6)

We can only put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit (ROM 8:13)

ROM 8:12-13

The Spirit leads us in this work.
He enables the work (by striving against the flesh with its lusts).

And we have to decide every day whether we are going to do this considering or not!

We walk by means of the Spirit…but WE walk!

COL 3:6-11

We get specific commands to put aside anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from our mouths.

But we are not alone in this battle.

The basis for putting these things aside? It all hinges on what happened at the cross.

And, further, it all hinges on our new man being renewed to a true knowledge.

Why do we stop lying to each other?

Because we are being renewed in our spiritual mind with the true knowledge about who we really are now.
